CRV Little League is proud to participate in the Little League All Star season each summer for both baseball and softball. This exciting opportunity allows our athletes to continue competing beyond the regular season, with the potential to advance all the way to the Little League World Series. Here’s a breakdown of how the All Star process works so families can prepare and plan accordingly:

Selection Process:

• All Star teams are formed based on coach nominations. CRV Little League’s Board of Directors does not select players, but does vote on and approve All Star coaches.
• Coaches nominate players based on their performance, attitude, and skill level demonstrated throughout the regular season, as well as during tryouts.
• Players may be nominated for a division above or below their regular season level, depending on eligibility and team structure.
• CRV competes in as many divisions as the number of eligible players and coaches allow.

What to Expect:

• The All Star season can include up to four levels of tournament play:
  
  1. District
  2. State
  3. Regionals
  4. World Series
• District 1 tournaments are typically held in or near Grand Junction. Locations and dates for additional rounds depend on team advancement.

Timeline & Commitment:

• Practices begin in early June, and tournament play runs through mid to late July. (Some State tournaments may extend into early August.)
• Players must be prepared for a significant time commitment, including frequent practices, travel, and multiple back-to-back games.
• Families should expect additional fees and travel expenses.

Tryout Details – Performance Matters:

This is a true tryout, and not all players will be selected. Coaches will evaluate each player based on the following:

• Hitting, pitching, catching, infield & outfield
• Speed, hustle, effort, and versatility
• Baseball/softball knowledge, coachability, and attitude

Selections are based on both tryout performance and regular season performance. The final roster will include the athletes best equipped to represent CRV at a competitive level.

Please note: Defensive playing time is not guaranteed for all players during tournament games. However, all players on the roster will have the opportunity to bat, per Little League substitution rules.

Important Notes:

• If your player cannot commit to the All Star schedule, please decline the nomination.
• Original birth certificates are required for selected players and will be submitted to District 1 for verification. These will be returned following the process.
• Some coaches may notify players after the final game of the regular season, though parents may be informed earlier for planning purposes.
